Who is responsible and what this covers
Chen Cui is the operator and data controller for the Papilot website at papilot.ai. For privacy questions or requests, email i@cuichen.cc.
This notice covers this public website, including this page. It does not describe processing inside the Papilot desktop or command-line application, your papers, your chosen coding agents, or third-party websites.
Hosting and security
The website is hosted on GitHub Pages. Hosting infrastructure receives network and request information needed to deliver the site. GitHub states that Pages visitors’ IP addresses are logged and stored for security purposes, including when they are not signed into GitHub. This hosting processing happens even if you turn off website statistics.
Providing and protecting this website serves our legitimate interests in availability and preventing abuse, where that legal basis applies. GitHub describes its own processing, retention and international transfers in its privacy statement.
Your choice and browser preferences
The homepage uses cookieless Umami statistics by default. You can turn statistics off or back on for this browser using the settings at the top of this privacy page. Turning statistics off leaves the website and downloads available. This privacy page loads only the local settings script and never loads the analytics service.
Your previously saved refusal is respected unless you change it here. We also disable analytics when the browser signals Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC), or when browser preference storage is unavailable. Turning statistics off stops subsequent collection in open tabs of this site; it does not automatically delete existing records.
We use browser localStorage to remember whether statistics are disabled, with no automatic expiry. Language and appearance preferences also use localStorage and remain until changed or cleared in your browser. These preferences support your requested settings and are separate from analytics retention. Clearing browser storage removes your saved refusal and restores the default, unless a browser privacy signal disables statistics. If your browser cannot save a change, it may not survive a reload or a newly opened tab.
What website statistics measure
When statistics are enabled, we use Umami Cloud to understand how this website is used and improve its content and usability. Our intended legal basis is our legitimate interest in those improvements, where applicable data-protection and ePrivacy rules permit it. Statistics include the localized page and referring website’s origin, plus these fixed categories of activity:
- Section navigation, external destination categories, and download or language menu openings.
- Installer link clicks, including platform, architecture, package format and button location; successful or failed installation-command copies, without command contents or error messages.
- Language and light/dark appearance changes, and real actions in the interactive demonstration: accept, reject, reopen and show/hide source.
- Section visibility, scroll milestones at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%, and visible-page time at 15, 30, 60 and 120 seconds. These are deduplicated milestones, not a record of every scroll or proof of attention.
We filter outgoing analytics to fixed fields. Query strings, URL fragments, campaign and advertising identifiers, source-page paths, screen dimensions, input contents, clipboard contents and selected text are excluded. We do not add account identifiers or enable session replay or heatmaps. Activity while statistics are disabled is not replayed later, and automatic demo animations are not recorded as user actions. A download click does not establish a completed download or installation.
Umami processes IP addresses and browser User-Agent information to derive visitor/session identifiers and approximate location. Its standard analytics records do not store an IP-address field, but infrastructure or security logs may contain IP addresses. This processing is not a guarantee of complete anonymity. See Umami’s metric definitions and privacy policy.
Service providers, location and retention
Our statistics use Umami Cloud, provided by Umami Software, Inc., with the EU analytics-storage region and Hobby plan. The current Hobby plan retains production analytics for six months. The EU region applies to analytics storage; CDN delivery, security, support and operational logging may involve processing elsewhere. See the Umami Cloud FAQ.
Operational logs and backups have separate retention and deletion terms; the six-month analytics period does not specify their lifetime. Umami’s Data Processing Agreement describes these terms and international-transfer safeguards, including contractual clauses where applicable. Its subprocessor list identifies supporting providers. Website statistics are available to the operator and service providers as needed for the purposes described here.
Your rights and contacting us
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal data, and object to relevant processing. Contact i@cuichen.cc. We use information you provide to handle your request and may need information reasonably necessary to verify and locate the relevant data. Because our analytics do not include your name or email, those details alone may not identify particular records.
You may also complain to the competent data protection authority, including in your place of habitual residence or work where applicable. The European Data Protection Board maintains a list of European supervisory authorities. We do not use these website statistics to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.
External links and changes
Links to downloads, GitHub, npm, documentation and other sites take you to services with their own privacy practices. This notice does not control their processing. We will update this page when the website’s practices change; the date above identifies the latest revision. Changes to analytics purposes or recipients will be reflected in this notice and must comply with the applicable legal requirements.
